Wall Colmonoy, located at 550 Sand Sage Rd SW in Los Lunas, has received $134,000 in funds for the Job Training Incentive Program from the State of New Mexico. This will help fund the eight positions at the Los Lunas Location.
The company is a 4th generation, family owned/operated, global (facilities in 4 states, Canada and the UK) materials engineering group of companies engaged in the manufacturing of surfacing and brazing products, castings, and engineered components across aerospace, automotive, glass container, oil & gas, mining, energy and other industrial sectors.
Wall Colmonoy was founded in 1938 in Detroit by AF Wall. Colmonoy comes from an anagram of the word Alloy and the last names of the two metallurgists who invented Nickel Surfacing Powders, Cole and Edmonds. In 1950 another Metallurgist working for Wall Colmonoy, Bob Peaslee invented Nickel Brazing Powders.
In 1975 Wall Colmonoy moved their Alloy Products division to the Isleta Pueblo in NM. In 1999 Wall Colmonoy built a new $5M facility in Los Lunas where we currently remain.
The Los Lunas plant has approximately 52,000 square feet under roof. This facility is the Alloy Products division for Wall Colmonoy. The plant is primarily a Nickel Powder Foundry that also produces a line of Brazing Aids for the hard surfacing and metal brazing industries.
The facility takes in raw materials and after alloying multiple elements together (primarily Nickel, Chrome, Silicon, Boron) melts them in small induction furnaces and atomizes it into metal powder. The resulting metal powder is then screened for size depending on the needs of the customer. The powder is then tested and packaged for sale. This plant services customers in North America, Central America, South America and Asia.
The Los Lunas plant currently works 6 days a week, 20 hours per day.
